1-1

going into level 1, we have our first cutscene! it shows our story. Baron Aloha has taken over several planets, and it's up to Robbit to stop his evil crimes. the planets are being held by these big robot looking squid guys, and each world has two platforming levels and a boss.

here's our level select. let's get into level 1-1.

alright, and here we are! the game is played from a first person perspective, and like i said in the intro post, you have to collect 4 jet pods in each level. then make your way to the exit. you can shoot, as well as jump up to 3 times. you can also stock up on special weapons, which are displayed on the left side of the screen. the top part of the screen also has this little disc that shows how many jet pods you have. the bottom of the screen shows your remaining health, as well as your lives in the middle on Robbit. now, let's go find some jet pods.

check out this little Kiwi guy. he's so goofy lookin, i love him.

there's also this cute little house in the first level. it makes each world feel very lived-in, adds a lot to the atmosphere.

here's our first jet pod! they all look like carrots, since Robbit is a rabbit and all that. and hey, what's that weird golden ring in the background?

why, it's a bonus ring of course! there's one of these in every stage, and each one has a unique challenge for you to try and beat. let's give this one a shot.

in this bonus stage, you have to pop 20 balloons in a minute by either jumping on them or using your guns. unfortunately, i'm a little rusty with these and wasn't able to do it this time. ah, whatever. no biggie, we've got like... what, 11 more chances to get it right? pretty sure that's right.

the rest of the stage is pretty simple. there were three more jet pods, one in the middle, and two on floating platforms in the sky. as im sure you could imagine for a game called "Jumping Flash!", the game has a lot of verticality, and you can jump REALLY high. as such, often times there's a lot of floating platforms, and they're pretty fun to jump around on.

once you get all the jet pods, you have to make your way to the exit platform, which looks like this.

and with that, we're done with the first stage. things definitely start out simple in this game, but that's kinda what i like about it. also, for later levels, i probably won't be taking as many screenshots, since a platformer like this requires a lot of focus, i cant be taking screencaps for every little thing.
